Pastor's Message
April 27-28, 2024 - Fifth Sunday of Easter
I share with you news in regards to our parish staffing. Donna Wardrup, our Parish Secretary, will be leaving our parish staff at the end of June of this year. Donna has served our parish with dedication for over 21 years. I thank Donna for her selfless service to our parish community.
In 2022 The Archdiocese of Baltimore began the initiative named “Seek the City” to examine and strengthen Catholic worship and ministry in Baltimore. After listening sessions and examining the demographics of the parishes, and the ongoing costly maintenance of older Church buildings, a proposal has been made to decrease the number of parishes in Baltimore and its adjacent suburbs from 61 parishes to 21 and the number of worship sites where Mass will be celebrated from 59 to 26. This is very sad news for our fellow Catholics, some of whom have been parishioners for many years in their respective parishes. Please keep them in your daily prayers, as well as their pastors and Church staff members as Archbishop Lori, prayerfully makes his final decisions.
Next Saturday, May 4th some 75 boys and girls of our parish will celebrate their First Holy Communion at one of two Masses (10am & 1pm) in our Church. As the children receive the Lord Jesus Christ for the first of many times, may we remember our own First Communion and the gift of the real presence of Jesus Christ who we receive at every Mass. Please pray for our First Communicants on this memorable day in their faith journey.
We again have “NORA’S KNAPSACKS” available in the Narthex. Please take a knapsack or two as you leave Mass today and keep it in your vehicle and then give the knapsack to a person in need in the community. Each purple “Nora’s Knapsack” has a poncho, a comb, a toothbrush, a bottle of water, a granola bar as well as other items. In addition, there is a sheet with names and phone numbers of community resources which can provide help.
