Kathy Brady Mike Marrin Linda Kline
Kathy Elder Tom Denton
Deacon Ray Moreau
Meeting called to order at 6:45 by Chairman Jim O’Donnell
Opening prayer led by Kathy Elder
Motion to approve minutes of November meeting given by Dan Palumbo and seconded by Harry Canter. Motion approved.
Written building report provided by Bill Stehle. An updated site plan shows a revision to the storm drain route off our property. A note is made that a wetland encounter has been revealed. This will require a special permit from the Corps of Engineers and the Maryland Department of the Environment. An acquaintance of Bill Stehle, Mr, Milton McCarthy has agreed to help acquire the necessary permits. Once the site plan has been corrected, Bill Stehle will contact the neighbors affected by the right of way. Both parties have consented to granting the necessary right of way.
The application for special exception with the County is to be filed on December 15. The hearing usually is scheduled within 90 days. At this same time the architect will commence his preparation of construction documents.
We are awaiting the Archdiocese to approve Corkhill Cush Reeves Architects. Only approved Architects can be used on any building project in the Archdiocese.
If all goes as planned we can file for building permit in April and construction can begin in July.
Jim O’ Donnell brought up the issue that there is a need for an expanded building committee. Bill Stehle is handling the expansion project for the parish. But unless he attends the Pastoral Council meeting we have no correspondence as to what is going on.
When the original discussion arose about an expansion there was a large group of parishioners that met on a regular basis and devised the current building plan. But eventually they stopped meeting and all facets are being taken care of by Bill Stehle. The Council feels that if a small group was involved in the planning, someone should be able to come to the Pastoral Council meetings and give us a verbal update. This will be critical as we move into the actual construction phase of the project.
Bob Blandford made a motion that we request that Fr. Barr add additional individuals to the Building Committee, motion seconded by Ruth Milano. Motion approved.
The School of the Incarnation is asking for input as to how their facilities can be used by the various parishes, with children attending the school. Dan Palumbo suggested and it was agreed that the Utilization Committee would handle this issue for our parish.
Kathleen Waldner brought information regarding a 3 day East Coast conference titled:
“Bringing It all Home: Whole Commuinty Cathechsis”.
This conference should provide ways and means to provide total Catechesis in our parish. Kathleen is attending and feels it would be beneficial for 2 members of the Council to attend also. Kathy Elder and Kathy Brady are willing to attend.
A motion was made by Linda Kline to have the Parish provide funding for Kathy Elder and Kathy Brady to attend the conference. Motion seconded by Dan Palumbo. Motion approved.
Harry Canter requested that the monthly contribution be given to the Mt. St. Mary’s Seminary. Motion made by Tom Denton, seconded by Ruth Milano. Motion approved.
Next meeting scheduled for January 28, 2004.
Meeting adjourned at 7:25.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Kline
