40 Days for Life Campaign
Ash Wednesday, 2/18/2026 – Palm Sunday, 3/29/2026

About the Campaign
Please be a Voice for the Vulnerable pre-born babies and their mothers, by praying and fasting to end abortion! Please stand vigil and pray with us outside Planned Parenthood of Annapolis for just one hour during the 40 days. The Annapolis campaign is asking churches to concentrate their vigils on when workers and clients are at Planned Parenthood on Mondays 10 AM to 7 PM and Tuesday-Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. In-clinic surgical abortions have resumed at PP on most Tuesday between 9 am and noon.

Mothers entering abortion clinics respond to peaceful, prayerful vigil standers with positive signs offering help, hope, and life for their pre-born baby. Former abortion workers report that up to 75% of abortion appointments are no shows when people are praying outside the abortion clinic. Former PP workers have attributed their conversions to vigil standers outside their abortion clinics. You can make a difference and save a life.

How To Participate in 40 Days for Life In Our Community
  • Holy Family vigil hours will be on Mondays from 2 pm-3 pm during the campaign. We meet behind Planned Parenthood near 1005 Smithfield Street (not West Street). Parking is available on the house side of Smithfield St. from 9am to 4pm.
  • If you are interested in participating please contact Katherine Miller ([email protected]). She is coordinating vigil attendance to ensure that we have at least 2 people there during our assigned hours.
  • If the Holy Family time is not convenient for you can join another church group by scheduling a vigil hour on the Annapolis Campaign website. The website will show when others are scheduled to be present. When you sign up through the website you will automatically be prompted to sign the Statement of Peace (SOP) where you agree to the rules for participation and which provides legal assistance if it’s needed.

Why Should I Pray At Planned Parenthood?

BECAUSE IT BRINGS THE LOVE OF CHRIST TO WOMEN WHO ARE IN CRISIS
Our world is difficult and challenging, and many women, when they are with child, are stressed.  To know that people are praying about this issue—not judging but praying—has been a comfort to some women who have seen the “40 Days” participants praying on West Street outside of the Annapolis Planned Parenthood, and at other prayer vigils across the nation.  How do we know this?  They have approached us and told us… that, far from feeling judged or criticized, they took heart at knowing that other people cared.

BECAUSE IT HELPS PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE OPTIONS
Did you know that 78.3% of women experienced “pressure” to abort their babies, 58.3% chose abortion “to make others happy” and 66% said they knew they were making a mistake? The Annapolis Pregnancy Clinic (at 934 West Street) across the street from Planned Parenthood of Annapolis, offers sonograms, ongoing counseling, and financial/other assistance, to women who are pregnant. If you talk to someone who is considering an abortion, you have more than just “good will” to offer women who are under pressure and afraid.  You can turn them to a large group of caring and loving people—at the Annapolis Pregnancy Clinic—who want to help them.

BECAUSE A CHILD IN THE WOMB IS A CHILD OF GOD
Through public witness, we can help people remember that a child’s life is sacred. Abortion is an emotional issue, and one that can bring up hurtful memories for men and women who have been involved in an abortion. For healing after an abortion contact www.project-rachel.net.
