Invite someone to Holy Family on the weekend of December 5-6 to experience God’s mercy in one of the following ways:
Pope Francis has asked that we begin a “Year of Mercy” on December 8. This is when we will remember the mercy of God and that we show mercy to one another and towards ourselves.
So, as we begin this Year of Mercy, Holy Family Parish is having a “Weekend of Mercy” when all are invited to experience God’s mercy through a Christmas Carol sing/through the Mass/through going to confession, or through being prayed for by our parishioners after Mass.
So: On December 5-6 we invite you to bring someone to Holy Family to:
1. Go to Mass: 5pm on Saturday, and on Sunday at 7:45am, 9:15am, 11am and 5pm. There will be a special message of mercy at all the Masses that weekend.
2. Go to a Christmas Carol Sing with hot chocolate: After the Sunday night Mass at 6pm.
3. Go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession): Including 3:30pm-5pm on Saturday, December 5; 12:30pm and 4:30pm-5pm on Sunday, December 6; 8am, 11am and 7pm on Wednesday, December 9. On Wednesday, December 9 at 7pm we’ll have 6 priests.
4. Go and be prayed for after Mass by one of our parish prayer teams: On December 5-6 we’ll have teams of parishioners available after all the Masses except for the 5pm on Sunday to PRAY WITH YOU about ANY ISSUE LARGE OR SMALL.
5. Post on Twitter how God has shown mercy to you or how you have shown mercy to another at #HolyFamilyMercy. A bracelet on which will be the message #HolyFamilyMercy will be given out at all the Masses December 5-6 to wear.
If it has been a while since you went to confession, here is why to go: Catholics believe that God always forgives our sins ANY TIME if we are sorry…..but we also believe that it helps to a. have people pray for you, b. to say our sins out loud and to hear, out loud, someone say you are forgiven and c. we believe Jesus started the Church for a reason (that we would pray for each other) and that he sent the Holy Spirit to the Church so that it could help us (which we believe happens in the sacrament.) As for how to go to confession: we’ll have cards and prayer aids to help you if you have forgotten what to do. So don’t worry.
