FOUR QUESTIONS SENT TO US BY ARCHBISHOP LORI and our Archdiocese:  If you are signed up for FLOCKNOTE or MyParishApp, you would have received, from Archbishop Lori directly, four questions to which you can reply using a “virtual town meeting” by clicking “reply” on those notes. If you are not signed up for this media, parishioners can sign up through www.aobmoreconnected.org.

November 17th &  18th

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

This weekend the readings, for the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B, are about the end of time. In the first reading, from the Old Testament, the Book of Daniel, Ch.12, we hear about a rising of the dead at the end of time, when, “Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake.” Jesus talks about His return in glory, at the end of time, in Mark 13.

We know our God is a God of love….but these readings also have an element of warning: That God will want to see that we have participated in building up His Church and spreading the love of God through our lives in order for us to be ready to be with God at the end of time.
While none of us like to think about the judgement of anyone by God, we all know how each of us can affect the faith of others – negatively or positively – when we follow the Lord or when we do not. So today we think about how God does call us to use our lives for the good….in order to be ready to be with Him for eternity. Let’s remember that as we contemplate how we are called to live our lives for the good, and in doing good.

Tuesday,  November 20th at 7pm the members of Holy Family; along with All Hallows Episcopal, Union Memorial Methodist, Davidsonville Methodist and Mayo Methodist Churches will gather for a Thanksgiving service at Davidsonville Methodist Church (across the street from Holy Family). I will be participating. If you can bring a donation of peanut butter and or jelly, those would help to stock the Episcopal Church food pantry.
Also, on Thursday, November 22nd at 10am, we will have Mass here at Holy Family to remember Thanksgiving. Parishioners are invited to bring groceries to help stock the food pantry at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Edgewater.

Finally, for Thanksgiving and Christmas, we are encouraging families to remember the food pantry donations in our Narthex (blue grocery carts). That pantry is frequently depleted. Donations of peanut butter, cereal, pasta, and canned vegetables, fruit and beans are always appreciated. Maybe your family could undertake to have your kids bring in your donations from the car, at weekend Masses just to remember how praising God and helping others goes hand in hand.

Blessings this Thanksgiving to you, your family and friends!

Keep on Praying, Fr. Andy

GET CONNECTED: New Holy Family App and Flocknote are now available to download for iPhone, Android smart phones, tablets and iPads. Text to the number 84576 using our parish’s unique Text-to-Join keyword, HFCCD.

Flocknote is the day-to-day direct communication hub. The parish app is a great way to get news from the diocese, get daily readings, important parish messages, set reminders for Mass and Confession, etc.

We hope that our new App & Flocknote will be tools for fostering stronger parish life at Holy Family and better engage the New Evangelization.
