Strategic Plan Update:
Presentation to Archbishop Lori
December 7, 2024
On the evening of Tuesday, Nov 19th, our parish made an hour long zoom presentation to Archbishop Lori on our Parish’s Strategic Plan. Joining the Archbishop was Msgr. Jay O’ Connor, the Vicar for our area, and Edward Herrera, The Director of the Institute for Evangelization. Becky Kaman and Wayne Hipley, from the Office of Parish Renewal who helped us to create the plan, also attended. Holy Family Parishioners and Strategic Plan committee members Mara Barnet, Justine Buchanan, Angela Mickalide, Tom Kilkline, and Kevin Burgess joined me for the presentation.
We shared with the Archbishop that we began in January 2023 by reviewing our parish’s census information and our area’s demographics. We identified our parish’s strengths such as having good facilities and our parish’s weaknesses such as Ministry to Youth. We then reviewed all aspects of parish life such as Liturgy & Worship; Faith Formation; Youth Ministry; and Service.
The first area of the Strategic Plan which we are now addressing is that of “Welcome.” Welcome includes having greeters at the doors of our church before the Saturday Vigil Mass and the Sunday Masses to greet our parishioners and visitors to our church. We are in the process of recruiting and training greeters for each Mass. Another element of Welcome is providing guided tours of our campus for our new parishioners. We will continue to offer these tours. Another element of Welcome is our parish website. The website is often how people are introduced to our parish. In the past year we have made improvements to our parish website and we will continue to update our website.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Archbishop congratulated us on our work and accepted our Strategic Plan. I will keep you informed as we work together to strengthen our parish life here at Holy Family.
Blessings,
Fr. Mike
