Caring for Creation: Environmental Ministry
The Environmental Ministry engages in projects to beautify the landscape of the Church. In 2015 we planted 60 trees to reforest an area at the rear of the church. We received a grant and installed the Rain Gardens at the front of the Church and Rain Barrels at the Chapel. Native Plants abound. Projects vary at different times of the year from planting of native flowers and shrubs to removal of invasives. We have installed outdoor Stations of the Cross and in several areas, benches for you to enjoy nature. Future plans include a Meditation Garden. Projects usually involve just a couple hours at a time to accomplish specific tasks that the season requires.

This bio retention site captures storm water and air pollution from as far away as Indiana, and is added to the soil which acts like a fertilizer that the plants take up for food. Also, slows down the water flow as it moves towards our waterways. |
