HOLY FAMILY CATHOLIC CHURCH
SYNOD REPORT – 2022

Our parish completed its work on contributions to Synod 2021-23 on March 29, 2022.  At Fr. Mike’s request, Tom and Tina Delaney represented Holy Family at the Anne Arundel County Area Synod meeting at Saint Bernadette Parish in Severn, MD.  You can find a report of the meeting is at this link here. AAC SYNOD.

The input from Holy Family reflected parishioner comments and contributions from two public gatherings, in November and March, and answers to survey questions on the parish website.  A general summary of inputs from parishioners can be found at this link here.  HF SYNDOD SURVEY.

The next steps in the Synod process include Anne Arundel County forwarding their input to the Archdiocese later this spring and the final Archdiocesan meeting to be followed by input to Rome by October.  For more information on the Archdiocese and the Synod, see this link. ARCHDIOCESE SYNOD.

For those interested in a closer look at parishioner input and answers to the survey, you may contact Cyndi Zajic at familyministry@hfccmail.org.

SYNOD 2021 2023
FOR A SYNODAL CHURCH
communion/participation/mission

The biggest listening and discussion event the Church has ever undertaken is happening in the Archdiocese of Baltimore and across the globe. It is called Synod 2021-2023. Pope Francis and Archbishop William Lori are inviting all Catholics, all people of other faith traditions and people of good will to participate, pray, reflect and share thoughts and ideas.

Synod discussion and listening sessions are being conducted in every local Catholic Church. Catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Baltimore are holding prayerful listening sessions where the feedback will be compiled and delivered to Pope Francis. The local phase of the Synod began in October 2021 and will close by Easter 2022. The larger regional and global process then begins. The goal of the Synod is to make sure people are heard and to discern the ways that we are all journeying together as a Church.

For a really good introduction and overview, watch this short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5l4pf9IDlk&t=524s

For much more information please go to Archdiocese of Baltimore Synod Webpage: https://www.archbalt.org/synod/

The Synod is meant as a consultation process with the Church's members to jointly reflect on how the Church can better live communion, achieve participation, and open Herself to the mission of living the Gospel.  It is an opportunity for each parish member to be on the journey together and share his/her ideas, both for the universal Church  and for our own parish of Holy Family.

"The mission of the Church requires the entire People of God to be on a journey together, with each member playing his or her crucial role, united with each other."

How is this "journeying together" happening today in your church?
