Holy Orders

The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to His apostles continues to be carried out in the Church today. In this sacrament, a man is configured to Christ in a unique way and ordained to serve as a deacon, priest, or bishop. Each is called to serve God's people through preaching the Gospel, celebrating the sacraments—especially the Eucharist—and shepherding the faithful with a heart conformed to Christ.

At the heart of Holy Orders is a lifelong commitment to lead, serve, and sacrifice in love. A priest is not simply a functionary of the Church, but a spiritual father, teacher, and servant of Christ’s people.

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide.” — John 15:16 (RSV-CE)

The ordained minister stands in the person of Christ, bringing His mercy in Reconciliation, His presence in the Eucharist, and His Word in the proclamation of the Gospel. It is a sacred calling rooted in service, sacrifice, and joy.

If you or someone you know is discerning a call to the priesthood or diaconate, we invite you to speak with our pastor, Fr. Mike Jendrek at [email protected].
