Our ministry has lots of upcoming projects and updates – see below. Thanks for all your help in reaching out to so many in need. We also look forward to seeing you at our next virtual monthly meeting on February 16th at 7pm (invite forthcoming).
Virtual Haiti Bull Roast: Go to Haiti Bull Roast 2021 - Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church - Edgewater, MD (olph.net) for information. Our “Jewels of the Caribbean” quilt has raised a total of $685 so far and will be on display at Holy Family next weekend! The piggy market only has one little piggy left. Buy your items now and all tickets will be mailed to you directly and the gift card(s) for Bayside Bull can be used anytime in 2021. Tune in on February 14th for the livestream as we pull raffle tickets and announce how much we raised for the children in Haiti. 100% of the proceeds will go to feed and educate the children at St. Elizabeth of Hungary in Periodin, Haiti. Please spread the word and again thank you for your support.
“Saving Lives 1 Mask at a time”: There are mask kits available on the supply porch. In addition, we have a bag of crocheted ear savers that just need buttons added - if you like to hand sew – this kit is available for pick up too. To date we have distributed 12,534 masks, 481 scrub caps and 802 ear savers.
Lenten Challenge: begins on February 17 – April 4, 2021. This year’s community project will be walker totes. We have fabric and patterns available on the supply porch. Stop by and pick up your supplies. We will deliver and/or ship these finished walker totes in April to various nursing homes.
Pillowcase Dresses: We have 26 completed pillowcase dresses that we will be sending to Lancaster, PA for their upcoming “Pillowcase Dress Drive” in April. These are fun and easy to make and if you would like to design a few (see the attached pattern). Let us know if you need supplies. Drop off your finished dresses by the middle of March to be included in our shipment.
Pillowcase Dress Drive
This is our 5th year for collecting pillowcase dresses to be donated to young girls with basic clothing needs*.
The month of April is collection month, so begin sewing now! The ideal size is for ages six months to six years.
*Most of our dresses go to Sierra Leone, West Africa.
