Pastor's Message
March 16-17, 2024 - The Fifth Sunday of Lent
As I write this note, the first two nights of our Parish Mission led by Haley Scott DeMaria have been inspiring. She shared her early devotion for swimming; her physical and emotional recovery from paralysis after a team bus in which she was a passenger flipped over on a snowy and icy night; and her subsequent decision as a young woman to become a member of the Catholic Church.
I thank all the staff members and parishioners who helped make the Parish Mission, the Pot-luck Dinners on Monday and Tuesday nights, and the nightly childcare a reality. I especially thank Margaret Wood, our Director of Adult Enrichment, for all of her planning beforehand and her good work during the Mission.
Palm Sunday and Easter are approaching quickly. Last year parishioners signed up to serve as greeters at the Masses for those two Sundays. If you are going to be in town for either or both of these two Sundays, I invite you to go to our parish website (www.holyfamilychurch.com) where you will find a “Sign-Up Genius” to select which Mass(es) you would like to serve as a greeter. Families are welcome to greet!
The additional days and times when the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered this Lent are in the calendar in this bulletin and on our parish website.
Registration is open for the Family Retreat next Saturday, March 23rd from 9am-Noon in the Church and in Unity Hall. Come and discover amazing treasures of our Catholic faith! Sign up now for the retreat and then plan to join us for the Easter Egg Hunt which will follow at 12 Noon in the rear parking lot of the Church.
As you are leaving Mass today, I invite you to take from one of the tables in the narthex an Our Daily Bread casserole pan with two easy to follow recipes to choose from. Please return your frozen casserole pan next weekend, March 23rd & 24th. The casseroles will then be delivered to Our Daily Bread in Baltimore that coming week.
Lastly, I encourage all of us, including myself, to welcome all of those who will be gathering with us on Palm Sunday and a week later on Easter Sunday. This is our opportunity to showcase our parish as a welcoming and friendly parish!
Blessings,
